Or in simpler words, 100% natural. We replaced harsh, skin irritating soap and cleansing chemicals with natural saponins extracted from tea tree and soapnuts. It enabled us to deliver cleansing, antimicrobial, antifungal properties but enhanced with additional antioxidant, balancing, skin conditioning benefits.
Our cleansing formula with natural saponins is more than enough to deeply purify your skin.
Nourishing and moisturising
Enriched in moisturising bioferment from acerola, soothing boswellic acids, antioxidant copaiba, calming panthenol. Our Cleansing Gel takes a true care of your skin, not only washes it from impurities.
Balancing the microbiome, protecting the skin
While natural saponins are already much safer for skin than soap or cleansing chemicals, we additionally enriched the formula in a concentrate of postbiotics to preserve the equilibrium of the microbiota, improve the integrity of the skin barrier by boosting the production of constituents of cohesion and of protein and lipid structures, as well as to accelerate the rate of epidermal renewal.
Your questions – answered:
Each of LAST products is formulated with sensitive skin in mind. We are focused on performance and delivering visible results while simultaneously nourishing, comforting, balancing the skin. For our Cleansing Gel, we wanted it to remove impurities from the skin but without striping the natural oils, essential lipids and proteins from the face, to have balanced pH and never cause any irritation.
Traditional soap, especially when used frequently, is too harsh and drying for delicate complexion. It disturbs skin’s natural pH causing irritation and aggravating pre-existing skin conditions.
Instead of strong alkali solution, soap-free products contain emulsifying ingredients that break up excess dirt and oil, cleansing the skin. They do not rip the skin off its moisture, are very gentle, and do not disturb skin’s acid mantle and microbiome.
At LAST – yes, but usually – no. Soap-free products often contain aggressive, synthetic chemicals like DEP, 1,4 Dioxane, Glycols, synthetic colors, synthetic fragrance (including synthetic essential oils), Interts, Solvents (VOCs, surfactants/sulfates), preservatives (formaldehyde, parabens, sodium benzoate).
Possible health effects from these chemicals include skin irritation; dermatitis; hormone disruption; cancer of the nose, throat, blood; menstrual cycle disruption; endocrine disruption; reproductive toxicity; immunotoxicity; neurotoxicity; hyperactivity in children; liver and kidney damage or even low fertility in men.
You definitely want to check what the soap was replaced with before making a purchase.
For our Cleansing Gel, we’ve developed our own composition of natural saponins, all related to forest. It consists of two types of saponins: one extracted from the tea tree and the second one extracted from soapnuts.
Our Tea seed extract is derived from Camellia Sinensis – Pu’er tea, growing in southwestern Yunnan. It is COSMOS, HALAL, VEGAN certified. Saponins are the key active ingredient of the extract. They are 100% natural and organic, function as solubilizers with high foam performance and emulsifying properties. Antifungal and antiseborrhoic, they have a clinically proven strong inhibitory effect on Candida albicans or Aspergillus niger. As a natural deoxidizer, tea saponins can not only eliminate exogenous oxygen free radicals, but also prevent the production of endogenous oxygen free radicals. They also have inhibitory effect on leukotriene D4 – one of the slow reaction substances of allergies, an important regulatory factor in many diseases such as inflammation and asthma, which can increase the permeability of blood vessels and cause the contraction of smooth muscles and bronchi. Our tea seed extract is delicate for skin and give the gentle rinse feeling, leaving the skin refreshed, soft and non-dry.
The second type of saponins comes from Soapnut extract, sourced from the fruits (nuts) of Sapindus Trifoliatus, also known as Arishta or Phenila in Sanskrit – a deciduous tree growing in southern India. The pericarp is a rich source of saponins which function as a mild cleanser, surfactant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent. They were used for washing for thousands of years by natives in Asia. Soapnut extract is gentle even for sensitive skin. Dermal toxicity studies on the saponin fraction indicated it doesn’t cause any dermal irritation, sensitization, phototoxicity or photosensitization effects.
There is no other soap-alternative substance added in the formulation.
The natural pH of healthy skin is between 4 and 5.9 and it functions as a hostile environment for bacteria, for example acne bacteria. Using products with unbalanced pH – usually rising above 7 pH – damages the protective layer on the skin called the acid mantle. A damaged acid mantle is one of the causes of premature aging, it makes the skin prone to inflammation following in eczema flare-ups, contact dermatitis and increased acne breakouts.
While most soap-based cleansers have a pH between 9 and 1, our LAST Cleansing Gel has approx. 5 pH. Balanced pH helps to restore skin’s protective barrier. And when additionally enriched in postbiotic concentrate, it preserves the equilibrium of microbiota, improves the integrity of skin barrier by boosting the production of constituents of cohesion and of protein and lipid structures, as well as accelerates the rate of epidermal renewal.
In order to deliver the skin as many benefits as possible, we always use hydrosols instead of water. In the Cleansing Gel, we used Rosemary Leaf Water – a hydrosol extracted through the steam distillation of rosemary leaves cultivated in France. It is rich in multiple therapeutic properties, mostly purifying, detoxifying, regulating and stimulating. It is 100% pure, certified, organic and free from preservatives. It is distilled in France, with the Ecocert certificate.
Used and valued since ancient Egyptian times, rosemary belongs to the Labiatae family, which contains several genera—such as Salvia, Lavandula, and Thymus—that are commonly used in cosmetics, due to their high prevalence of antioxidant molecules. The fathers of ancient medicine—namely, Hippocrates, Avicenna, and Galen—used ointments of rosemary flowers and leaves macerated in olive oil to treat joint pain and as a vulnerary to heal wounds (1). In the form of hydrosol, Rosemary Leaf Water has minor antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti fungal properties. It is ideal for combination, dull skin.
Most people think it doesn’t matter what you wash your skin with, as it doesn’t stay on the skin for a long time. For us – a shorter contact with skin is a bigger challenge! We have less time to actively influence the skin, fill it with nutrients. And each of our LAST skincare products is here to make a difference.
With the Cleansing Gel, apart from the cleansing function, our goal was to deliver the benefits of a hydrating, healing cream. We wanted your skin to feel comforted and moisturised after washing, without the instant need to reach for a cream. This is why we filled the formula with soothing boswellic acids, moisturising bioferment from acerola, panthenol, forest’s powerful balm copaiba, a drop of argan oil and more active ingredients to radically change and improve your experience with cleansing the skin.
As soon as you start consciously choosing your skincare. There is no age limit, all the ingredients are safe no mater the age.
The expiry date is 18 months from the production. You can check the expiry date on the bottom of your bottle.
Twice a day? More often if you like it? The formula won’t dehydrate your skin nor destroy your protective skin barrier.
As with all LAST products, Cleansing Gel is performance-driven but made safe at the same time. Apart from the 100% natural saponins, we filled the formula with multiple calming, soothing ingredients like panthenol, pentylene glycol, boswellia serrata resin extract, argan oil or vitamin E to take care of your sensitive skin.
